Basel Historical Museum houses the most inclusive and diverse collection of historical and cultural artefacts on the Upper Rhine and is one of the largest museums of its kind. It runs four separate sites: whereas the Barfüsser Church and the Haus zum Kirschgarten both boast a wide range of exhibits, the Carriage Museum and the Museum of Music each have a much narrower focus. All four sites are historical buildings. In total, the museum has some 6,200 m2 of exhibition space at its disposal.
