The first inventories of what would later become the collections of Basel Historical Museum were drawn up in the late 16th century by Basilius Amerbach. The museum is as committed as ever to this long tradition of archiving and documentation but these days uses cutting-edge technologies such as computer databases and the long-term archiving of electronic data.
